This week was a little crazy at work so my knitting suffered a little. My mind wasn’t in the lace mindset so instead of working on my waiting for rain, I moved on to working on my wonder wander mittens. I got this kit at Yarncon this year. It was 2 skeins of Leading Men fiber arts in their dramaturg base and the wonder wander hat and mittens pattern by Megan Williams.
The colors are an amazing green and purple combo and the pattern is super cool. Big shout out to Leading Men Fiber Arts, their colors are divine. Everytime I go to their booth at events, I want to buy everything in sight.
I finished the hat a couple months ago and I’ve had the mittens on the needles ever since. This week I all but finished one of the mittens, just need to knit up the thumb real quick. I also cast on and got the second one past the thumb gusset. So those are moving right along.
I also cast on a pair of socks for my soon to be mother in law. She is very particular about colors so when I asked what color she would like her birthday socks she immediately answered “chartreuse”. So chartreuse it is.
The pattern I’m using is Toe-Up Two at a Time Wave Socks by Laura Magdycz just a simple patterned sock I found on ravelry. This is my first toe up sock. I’ve done about 8-10 pairs of socks all cuff down. I cast these on with the Turkish Cast on method, which was super slick.
I might be a sock convert. We’ll see how the rest of this pair goes, but I am really liking this technique. I am also using my new Knitters Pride Karbonz needles. These lovelies are my new favorites.
I love Knitters Pride needles already and I have an interchangeable set of the marbles. I am a magic loop knitter and I have broken at least 4 sets of bamboo 1’s and 2’s. Either from grasping too tightly or from someone (glares at fiancee) sitting on them. I also hate HATE using metal needles. These carbon fiber needles are my happy medium, super strong but they don’t make my hands sweat like metal needles.
So this was a good week for new techniques and tools if not for quantities of work completed.
