Patience…young grasshopper OR “It Can’t be THAT hard to Join in the Round”

I have been looking forward to making a scarf for a relative for a long time now, and I found great yarn months ago at my local yarn shop in Casey, Illinois (The Yarn Studio). I finally got the right size needles when I was up in Chicago last weekend, so I started casting on. Easy, right?

It’s a scarf in the round, so I had to cast on 200 stitches, and join them in the round. I’ve made several things in the round, so I KNOW how careful you have to be when joining the stitches. After knitting about 5 rows, I could tell that I had a twist in the knitting. UGH! I had to rip it all out and start all over. REALLY?

So I tried it again. After only a couple of rows, I had TWO twists! It got worse!

So I tried a THIRD time. FINALLY! Got it! No Twists! Patience is a Virtue! Third time’s a charm! Pick your trite saying! I will get this scarf done. And it DOES look as good as I imagined.
