Being Thankful

This last week was a long one that included overtime and traveling either of which usually puts me in a bad mood. But this week good people and good luck had come together to try and make my week a happy one.

I had to travel to Buffalo this week last minute for training for work. My whole family will tell you that I’m a bad flyer. I hate airplanes. It’s a combination of the stale air and being shoved into an uncomfortable seat too close to a bunch of strangers. If that’s not bad enough, I can get very motion sick on planes. But each of my short flights were shockingly easy and not terrible. Buffalo was fine. I got the training I needed and snuck in a visit to the LYS (local yarn shop). Shout out to Have Ewe Any Wool, a very cute shop in western NY. I got a few skeins to finish my waiting for rain (I’ll say more on why I needed additional yarn when I can bring myself to look at that project again) I also grabbed some pretties for Mommy’s birthday. She said they were pretty so I think I did good. The ladies at the shop were really nice and they had a good selection.

So my trip to Buffalo which I was stressing about turned out to be pretty painless. 1 gold star for the week.

Next after coming home I had to go to a charity event both as a representative of my office and as my fiance’s plus 1.

We were a hit! “People like me, they really do!” I am not one for small talk so this evening was one I had prepared myself for being a long stressful one. Morgan and I ended up being chatty and he (the social butterfly) was able to get me into the event and talking people up like he usually does. A few other coworkers of mine were there based on my suggestion as this was a great networking opportunity. They were having a good time. I felt like a million bucks that is until my toes decided they were about to fall off. Luckily that happened right as they ushered everyone out.

The other great part of this event was that it was at an art museum which had an exhibit I was dying to see. It was even more amazing than I had expected. So 2 gold stars for the week.

I had to work all day Saturday but I got a ton done and a couple inches on dad’s socks done while waiting for my computer to catch up with me.

Sunday Morgan wanted to get me a fun day because of all of the work so what did we do? MINI GOLF! It was run down and stupid but very fun. I had a blast and we had a good lunch and he cooked me a really good dinner.

So I’ll give that another gold star. So for what had been projected to be a really terrible week ended up being a 3 gold star week! I love being surprised in such a happy way.

I’m thankful for knitting, for local yarn stores, for old friends and new, for beautiful art, for a great partner and for all my podcasts that kept my mind moving and entertained throughout the week.

I hope everyone can find their own things to be thankful for even during the crappy weeks.

PS – Mom says thanks for the beautiful yarn! Mary
