So I didn’t take knitting with me to the wedding…even though I strongly considered it. It was just as well since I ran around most of the day like a chicken with its head cut off.
Before and after the wedding though, the knit was on. I cast on and completed a beautiful cowl out of some of the Mrs.Crosby satchel that I picked up at Firefly fiber studio. The pattern was called the Orchid Cowl by Jo Strong. I blocked it the morning of the rehearsal dinner. I has a great time with the pattern and the yarn. They matched each other perfectly. I love it when it works like that.
On the plane to Portland and while spending time in O’Hare I knit 3 stripes on the Chevron baby blanket. After getting to Portland and making a pit stop at yarn store 1(see yarn tourism-portland) for a set of bamboo US8, 32” circs, I cast on and finished a set of fingerless mitts in the green malabrigo I had laying around. After finishing them I looked at the left over yarn and thought yeah it’s possible. So I cast on pair numero dos. I finished the second pair on the plane back to Chicago after playing a serious game of yarn chicken. Now I just need to weave in ends and possibly block them (not sure if they really need it) then they can be added to the Christmas box.
During my recovery day I took the yarn from Knit Purl (see yarn tourism store 2) and cast on a cute pair of colorwork mitts. I’m kind of making the pattern up as I go which should be interesting when trying to replicate it for the second mitt. I will let you know how it goes.
