Getting my groove back!

What a couple of weeks! So since last time I wrote, I have knit knit knit and knit some more. There are a few family members who aren’t super excited to be spending the winter up in the cold parts and mom and I have been on the task! She’s been knitting a scarf for him and I made a scarf and hat for her. The hat I made was the Double Double Cloche which worked up really quickly and I hope will work nicely. I made it out of leftover Rowan Softyak DK that I had lying about [It was from me – glad you could use it! – mom] The scarf was of the “made it up myself” variety. It was the out of the Får by Woolfolk.

The Får was dreamy! So soft and lofty. It only took me 3 days to knock out a cowl but I swear it would have gone faster if I hadn’t spent some of that time stroking the yarn pet in my lap. I secretly want to knit myself a sweater out of it but haven’t been able to convince myself because of the price tag yet.

Other quick projects I’ve knocked out recently:
Vanilla fingerless mitts out of leftover Après Ski and a Cussing washcloth out of Rowan Linen.

I’ve cast on a pair of socks for Grandma M but Morgan sat on a set of needles so those are in hiatus until I get another set of 2’s.

When I went to the shop to grab the Får for the cowl I also had ulterior motives. They had just gotten the 5” Lykke interchangeable needle sets in. *Squealing* I’ve been waiting for a month and you better believe I snapped one of those up the second day they had them. I am so pleased with them. I have knit three projects on them. Two projects on the US 8s and one on the US 4s.

Pros
Beautiful
Very smooth
Good weight
Nice cords
The cords haven’t loosened up over time
4 cords come with the set
Cord connectors in case you have a super long project
12 different sizes
Lovely carrying case

Cons
Expensive up front cost
The metal connection at the base of a few of the needles is not perfectly flush. It hasn’t snagged any yarn that I have worked with but I’m keeping an eye on it.

The last con is minor in the nitpicking “I need to find something wrong with this set” type of way. Overall I am so pleased with them and I’m pretty sure they are going to be the first thing I reach for when starting a new project.

That’s all my news this week y’all.

Sorry I’ve been incommunicado. Holidays are busy.

As always, much love,

-S
