So…

So….yeah well…it’s been awhile. I never intended my hiatus to last quite this long. Family illnesses, friends who needed me and my own personal things caused me to take a break on writing. Slowly I’m going to try to get back into the groove.

For the same reasons that I took a writing break, my knitting fell off pretty hard during this break so there isn’t a lot that you missed. I haven’t finished a project since my last post but I’m finally seeing several to start to head towards the finish line.

Eiffelgold by Melanie Berg.
So Mom and I were both on ravelry and fell in love with Melanie Berg’s mosaic shawl patterns. I am working on Eiffelgold. I’m using Madeline Tosh sport and it’s just turning out beautifully.

There wasn’t enough of the two main colors to knit the whole shawl so I added in a large grey color block which I think looks pretty cool. I’m almost done with the grey color block and the gigantic garter section.

Seriously, I’m not sure it’s ever going to end. After that it’s just one large pattern section and a pretty cast off. I’m really excited to have this one done soon. It’s going to be HUGE. Like a pretty blanket that is acceptable to wear outside. Score.

Notched Hem Tank Top by Purl Soho
One of my good friends from college lives in Hamburg, Germany now, and he brought home presents! The best presents ever. If you have a non-knitter in your life and they want to buy you yarn this is the way to do it: He took his phone with him to his local yarn shop in Hamburg and showed them my Instagram profile. Then he told them to pick out some stuff I’d like. Did they do good!

My two personal favorites were a denim skein and a mustard yellow variegated skein. The looked so nice together I knew I had to make something awesome.

I have several shawls on the needles currently (see above for example), so I didn’t want to go that route. What do you make when you have 800 yds of fingering weight single ply? A cute mesh tank/shell. This pattern calls for fingering weight yarn knit on US7s.

So the material is very see through but it’s lovely and drape-y and the colors. Yep I’m in love. Since I’m knitting in two colors, you look at that pattern and go two colors? Where? How? Well I did the bottom sections in yellow and the front and back panels in denim up to the arms.

That is how far I’ve gotten currently. Next I’m going to knit the two side panels in yellow. Then seam the four pieces together. When deciding on multiple colors I had the decision of intarsia or seamed? I have never met a person who actually enjoyed intarsia so you can see why I chose the route I did. I am hoping to have this finished really soon because I can’t wait to wear it!

Back at the loom finally. I finished the project on my rigid heddle loom. I had forgotten the pattern and totally screwed it up but it doesn’t look that bad and it’s done, so whatever.

The real thing is that I warped a new project and it is going to be EPIC!!! Highlighter yellow, purple and cream speckled yarn for the warp. 14” wide. I’ve got about 50g of yellow left after the warp and 25g of purple.

So I’m going to need another skein to get through the weft. I’m thinking a pretty cream or grey. We’ll see what my LYS can find that will look nice. I started the weft with the yellow and it’s going to be so freaking cool when I’m done. I just can’t even. It’s definitely worth the 4 hours it took me to warp the loom yesterday.

So yeah. Not a ton of work for the amount of time I’ve been MIA but still a lot for one post.

Hoping you are all well. Hugs -S
