Sarah’s Weekly WIP Update

Waiting for Rain
I took my pretty baby with me to a family event where I only knew 5 of the 50 people attending. My mom and I sat in the corner knitting while my Dad and Morgan people watched. Overall pretty successful family outing. I got 5 rows done with my current stitch count hovering at 270ish stitches. So that’s finally moving again after having sat in time out for a few months.

Brambles Hat in Tweed
I knit this pretty baby up in 2 days. It’s out of this great tweed yarn I found in Fayetteville, AR while there for work late last year. I did the medium pattern size and blocked it on a very large dinner plate. It is now gorgeous and very beret-like. I need to get better finished object photos before I stash it away for the present box. This is the second brambles hat I have knit. The pattern is fast and produces a hat that when blocked properly looks so polished and almost store bought. I will be making many more because there is always someone who will need a dashing beret.

Cascade Yarns EcoDuo Cabled Scarf
So Morgan’s family is Chicago Irish. I have been asked to knit projects that are representative of this fact. Green, cabled, wool; those were my guidelines. So I am using the green Cascade 220 I just picked up for this scarf. I had hoped to do it with one skein. I am now 22” into it and more than halfway done with my skein, so that’s not going to happen. It’s very pretty and it’s a quick pattern to memorize. The scarf will look and feel much better after the cables get blocked out. I hope to get this done this week.
